Epic sludge metal quintet Rising took an ambitious leap with the band’s fourth album, ‘Sword And Scythe’, a concept album on the history of mankind seen from the perspective of cosmic circularity, where the full potential of the band’s musical vision unfolds in a collection of songs of both progressive outlook, melodic mastery and fierce aggression. Released last October with Indisciplinarian, on ‘Sword And Scythe’ Rising are moving towards a more progressive direction, while operating confidently within a wide range of dynamics and facets of their own compositional and playing ability. The album varies from fast, short songs to longer epics with proggy structures, continuously displaying a fierce heaviness balanced by a distinct sense of melody and finesse, not at least in the updated twin guitar arrangements. Furtherly, the album is enriched by a group of musical guests adding choir vocals, piano, trombone as well as mellotron parts, and has pleased and suprised both fans and critics alike.

Now the band is sharing a brand new video for the track ‘White Heat’. Lead singer and lyricist Morten Grønnegaard has created the video, of which he says: „‘White Heat’ tells the story of a distant future where the fossil fuels that once forged our industrial society, are nothing but an ancient memory. Humanity struggles to find a new power source that can generate the white heat demanded to reindustrialize the world. A fast, aggressive yet melodic song with odd time signatures describing man’s striving towards both survival and dominance, and all it implies, good and bad. The video is a metaphorical illustration of this ambition and its palpable consequences that are our world today. But along the intent of the album’s concept of examining man’s nature, it is also a visual question to ourselves: is the current course the only path we can tread, or are we capable of self-critique to the point of controlling our instincts and convey a sustainable existence…?“
